In today’s corporate events landscape, event planners and HR managers are under increasing pressure to create experiences that are not only informative, but genuinely engaging and memorable. Whether it’s a half-day leadership meeting, a company offsite or a conference held over several days, delegate wellbeing has become a key part of event success.

Long presentations, networking sessions, travel, screen time and information overload can quickly lead to mental fatigue and reduced concentration. When energy dips, participation and engagement often follow.

Which is why more organisations are incorporating wellbeing activities such as chair yoga, breathwork and mindfulness into their events.

Why delegate wellbeing matters at corporate events

A successful event relies on delegates remaining focused, energised and able to contribute meaningfully all, or most, of the time. Experienced event organisers already pay close attention to factors such as:

  • Scheduled breaks

  • Healthy catering options

  • Lighting and room layout

  • Session structure and timing

  • Interactive formats and pacing

Increasingly, forward-thinking planners are also recognising the value of short wellbeing sessions that help delegates reset both mentally and physically.

These may include:

  • Chair yoga

  • Guided breathwork

  • Meditation

  • Mindfulness exercises

  • Chair based stretching and movement

The result is a more alert, engaged and positive audience experience.

How chair yoga supports engagement and performance

Chair yoga is particularly effective at events because it is inclusive, practical and easy to integrate into the schedule.

Sessions typically last between 10 and 20 minutes and involve gentle movement, stretching and breathing techniques that can be enjoyed:

  • In work clothes

  • Sitting in a chair

  • By people of all ages and experience levels

  • With varying mobility and fitness abilities

Even a short session can help delegates:

  • Reduce physical and mental fatigue

  • Improve posture after prolonged sitting

  • Increase circulation and energy levels

  • Enhance focus and concentration

  • Encourage creativity and clearer thinking

  • Feel calmer and more present

This supports delegate wellbeing and demonstrates commitment to a healthier workplace culture. It also creates a more positive and memorable delegate experience.

Corporate event examples

Conference kick-off: Settling busy minds

At an annual local government finance conference, delegates arrived carrying the mental load of emails, travel and busy work schedules. Before the day’s agenda began, we led a 10-minute chair yoga and conscious breathing session designed to help participants arrive mentally as well as physically.

The gentle stretching and breathing exercises created a calm, positive atmosphere and helped unify the group before the first keynote speaker.

Re-energising delegates after lunch

Anyone who has attended an all day conference knows the challenge of the post-lunch energy slump. Following a morning of talks on property investment and student accommodation, delegates at a corporate event were visibly tired after lunch. A 15-minute chair yoga session helped re-energise the room through movement, posture resets and breath-led exercises.

The shift in energy was immediate, with delegates returning to the afternoon sessions more alert and engaged.

Creative thinking for marketing teams

At a B2B marketing agency event, delegates were divided into smaller groups for movement and visualisation exercises designed to stimulate fresh thinking and problem-solving.

The combination of physical movement and guided mindfulness helped participants step away from habitual thinking patterns and approach creative challenges with renewed perspective.

Focus and alignment for international leaders

During a strategy event for European leaders within a global soft drinks company, we facilitated moving meditation and mindful breathing exercises to support clarity, focus and collective intention.

The sessions helped unite diverse teams around shared objectives while creating a calm and focused environment for high-level discussions.

Why event planners are adding wellness to conferences

Corporate wellbeing is no longer viewed as an optional extra. Delegates increasingly expect events to support both performance and wellbeing.

Short, professionally facilitated chair yoga sessions can:

  • Improve delegate satisfaction

  • Increase attentiveness during presentations

  • Create positive talking points and memorable moments

  • Support inclusion and accessibility

  • Demonstrate genuine care for attendee wellbeing

  • Differentiate your event from others

Importantly, chair yoga requires minimal space, no specialist equipment and can easily fit into conference agendas without disrupting the flow.

Bringing chair yoga to your corporate event

Whether you are organising a leadership retreat, conference, networking event or team away day, incorporating wellbeing activities can significantly enhance delegate experience and engagement.

Chair yoga offers a simple yet highly effective way to help people feel energised, focused and connected – enabling them to get more value from your event.

FAQs

Q: Why include chair yoga at events?

A: Delegates that have energy and can concentrate for longer will contribute more and get more from any event. Chair yoga sessions can be used to add a different layer of interest that complements the main agenda. Delegates feel looked after and so are more positive towards the organiser.

Q: How long should sessions be?

A: They can last as little as 10 minutes and still deliver real benefits. Longer sessions can be used at the start and end of the day, when there is typically less pressure on time. But during the event itself, we recommend 10 to 20 minutes maximum.

Q: Is it suitable for large groups?

A: Yes: so long as the delegates can hear and see the instructor, the number of delegates is not an issue. It could be an intimate group of 10 in a meeting room or an arena of 2,000 people

Q: Does it improve engagement?

A: Most definitely!  Chair yoga blends movement and breathing exercises that cut out mental distractions and increases oxygen flow to the brain. This supports higher levels of concentration and reduces a wandering mind. It’s also enjoyable and improves mood.
